Stasera, 19 maggio 2010, si apre il Festival Musicale a Dresda. Quest’anno il Festival a Dresda è sotto l'insegna della Russia perché porta il nome «Russlandia» («Руссландия»). Al Festival tradizionalmente prendono parte i celebri musicisti di tutto il mondo compresa l’Orchestra Nazionale della Russia. Con l’esibizione nel celebre teatro dell'opera di Dresda, SemperOper, l’Orchestra russa apre la Festa Musicale. Oltre a ciò al Festival prendono parte due orchestre russe, l’Orchestra del Teatro Bolshoj e l’Orchestra del Teatro Mariinskij, le quali presenteranno i ricchi programmi della musica russa diretti da vari direttori russi come Valerij Ghèrghiev (Валерий Гергиев) e Semion Bychkòv (Семён Бычков) con i celeberrimi musicisti russi Jurij Bashmet (Юрий Башмет), Vadim Rèpin (Вадим Репин) e Misha Majskij (Миша Майский).
La particolarità del Festival Musicale di Dresda che si svolge dal 1978, è che ogni anno si svolge sotto un nuovo slogan o motto. L’anno scorso (2009) il tema del Festival è stato il «Nuovo Mondo» ed era dedicato ai compositori americani ed agli europei i quali componevano la musica negli Stati Uniti. Ora all'ordine del giorno è la Russia con la sua musica immensa. Il Festival durerà fino al 6 giugno 2010.

«RUSSLANDIA» might be the title of a musical work, telling of the vast Russian forests, the depths of the Russian soul or a story by Dostoyevsky or Tolstoy. Under this title, we have put together a unique array of works, a snapshot of living Russian music in all its facets. Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Shostakovich – they all combined the voice of their homeland with Western influence and reached the entire world with their music. Today, the signals Russian musicians, orchestras and conductors send throughout the world are exceptionally strong again. Guided by its inventive maestro Valery Gergiev, the Mariinsky Theatre from Dresden’s twin city St. Petersburg has developed into a cultural center in the East during recent years, and our «Orchestra in Residence», the Russian National Orchestra, has reorganized the Moscow orchestral scene.
