Si chiama Artem Saveliev, ha otto anni. Ieri è arrivato da Washington a Mosca con un biglietto in cui i genitori adottivi comunicano che non lo vogliono più. La Procura della Russia ha annunciato che saranno chiariti tutti i dettagli della procedura di adozione. Secondo il rappresentante presidenziale per i diritti d’infanzia si tratta di un fatto scandaloso in quanto il ragazzo è stato spedito in patria come un pacco postale.

L’ODISSEA DI UN BAMBINO RUSSO ADOTTATO IN AMERICA

Si fa fatica a crederci, ma è la verità.

In questi giorni un bambino russo di otto anni, adottato sei mesi fa da una signora americana, è stato restituito al mittente come un pacco postale indesiderato.
Il bambino è stato messo su un aereo con una lettera in cui la «madre» annunciava di averci ripensato e che non lo voleva più.
All’aeroporto di Mosca il bambino è stato preso in consegna da uno sconosciuto che la signora americana aveva trovato in Internet. Per duecento dollari lo portato fino al portone del Ministero della pubblica istruzione.
Pavel Astakhov, ombusdman di grande prestigio, dice che non vi sono precedenti per questo atto di barbarie.
Adesso la signora americana protagonista di questa storia incredibile rifiuta ogni contatto con i giornalisti e si nasconde.
La faccenda solleva tutta una serie di interrogativi, anche sulle modalità di adozione all’estero.
L’ambasciatore americano a Mosca John Bayerly ha rilasciato una intervista alla Voce della Russia per esprimere tutta la sua indignazione.

Mia moglie ed io siamo rimasti sconvolti dall’accaduto. Non riusciamo ad immaginare come sia possibile tanta crudeltà nei confronti di un bambino che si è voluto adottare.
Tutti i particolari di questa strana vicenda sono ora oggetto di una inchiesta. Noi lavoriamo in stretto contatto con le autorita. L’unica nota positiva, conclude l’ambasciatore — è che ora questo bambino si trova in buone mani.
The Russian Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor-General’s Office says that it will probe the circumstances of the adoption of a 8-year old Russian boy Artem Savelyev by a US family. The boy arrived in Moscow from Washington by plane yesterday with a note saying that his foster-parents have on second thoughts decided against the adoption and were returning the boy back to Russia. Meanwhile Russia’s Ombudsman for Children Pavel Astakhov has described as outrageous the fact that the boy was sent back very much like an ordinary parcel. He also said that his might-have-been mother should be called to account under the US law for her cruel treatment of the boy. Russia’s Ombudsman for Children also feels that sanctions should be imposed on the agency that mediated the adoption.

President Dmitry Medvedev considers it necessary to oblige American foster parents adopting Russian children to ensure continued access to them for custody bodies. "Taking into account the negative experience which has accumulated in this area, it would be best for us together with our American colleagues to think about signing some intergovernmental agreement, that would, perhaps, strictly regulate the duties and obligations of foster parents adopting children from Russia, and enabling the monitoring of such families"- said Dmitry Medvedev, in part, in an interview for the American ABC TV Channel. The Russian President said: "We must be aware of what is happening to our children. Or we might have to give up the practice of Russian children being adopted out to the USA." On April 8th 7-year old Artyom Savelyev, who had been adopted by an American family, flew back to Russia from the USA. His foster parents sent him back on the plane alone, with a note on his back saying they were giving up their adoptive rights. This incident had aroused the indignation of the Russian public. The Investigation Committee of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office has launched inquiry into the details of the incident. For his part, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia intends to freeze the process of adoption of Russian children by U.S. citizens until a relevant bilateral agreement is signed. Dmitry Medvedev said this was a terrible incident. “This boy, Artyom Savelyev, he just found himself in a very bad family, as I see it," - said the president, and called on U.S. authorities to pay due attention to the situation regarding the adoption of Russian children by Americans, because, he said, “the trend was starting to cause concern" and "it was distressing," reports ITAR-TASS.

Questa è una vicenda che deve far riflettere le autorità che concedono i permessi per le adozioni internazionali e direi che, visto il comportamento di questa signora, il piccolo Artem è stato proprio fortunato a tornare in Russia sano e salvo.
